For people who don't like to exercise much (like me), this place is a kind of a workout. Bowling is a fun game to play along with your friends. It's more of using your core and you need hand-eye coordination like a lot.
I love bowling and the one spot in Chennai other than Express Avenue's funcity for kids bowling alley would be Down Under Bowling. It is located in Egmore and it's in an underground basement (Not shady at all) and it's fun on every level.
They have three different sizes of bowling balls (Small, medium and large). It's pretty safe to use the small ball as a beginner as it's light compared to the rest and medium if you can lift it.
Tip: Medium ball can help you get a strike( Secret much?)
I have visited this place thrice and it's honestly one of my favorite places to visit as a teenager living in Chennai. It's a place to just let loose and have fun with your friends even though you get competitive to win after 10 rounds and you want that strike so bad.
The music is mostly bollywood songs and the latest english pop music which is really good( Yes, I love me some bollywood.) The ambiance is really good and it's mostly crowded during weekends so it's better to pre-book. It costs 250 bucks for each person, kind of expensive for 45 mins of bliss but save some money for the experience of just taking a break and having fun.

I came to alley an hour later after opening. The score board screen were not functioning properly and the bowling staff had to record down the scores on a sheet of paper. The pins were also falling down before we even bowled, causing to have an unfair game. There was also no aircon and it was very stuffy. Over all it not suggestable to visit. POOR:((
